11; Giving Thanks

It's certainly a relief that those monster attacks have ended for the time being. I only hope anyone affected by these strange events will recover soon.

But in spite of these unpleasant occurrences...I really am grateful to be here. To have this second chance after death--this is already so much more than I could ever hope to ask for.

Thank you. Words cannot express the depth of my appreciation, though I'm afraid they're all I have to offer.

[Aside from startling him, he's unbothered by the yelling. It's understandable, given the circumstances--and Aska's truly a sweet young lady, after all.]

Gremio... [ Hearing Gremio say that, there are too many emotions swimming in his head for him to know what to say in return (or if he even should). It's not that he'd think Gremio would ever not be grateful to be alive again (goodness knows Tyr was more grateful to have Gremio again than he'd ever let on), but Gremio saying so now made it hard for Tyr to ignore that the City revived him this time. And it didn't even do so fully.

He couldn't say he was angry at the City right now, though. No, his voice is too soft and movements are too slow for that. ]

Y-Young Master--

[There's some slight shock as he comes to his senses and realizes what Tyr must be going through. As grateful as he is--even if he believes what he was told, that one day he'll truly come back--it's still something he tries not to talk about. Not for his own sake, but the sake of Tyr and anyone else.]

I'm sorry, Young Master. I hope I haven't worried you.

[ Tyr automatically shakes his head in response. He should watch himself for Gremio. He tries to dismiss Gremio's worries, but his face continues to hold that morose look. ]

No...Not at all. I just wasn't expecting it...

...Is anything going on?

[That morose look is exactly what continues to worry Gremio. He doesn't realize it's a curse; he just blames himself for not thinking.]

Please don't worry. There aren't any problems, Young Master...I simply wanted to express my gratitude, but perhaps this wasn't the best way.

[ Cut it out, Gremio. That's an order. Tyr sighs under his breath and resists the urge to touch Gremio's arm. He knows that'll just make him more bothered. ]

There was nothing wrong with what you did. I'm glad everything's all right...

[Well...as Tyr wishes! He'll try... Gremio manages a slight smile, more for Tyr's benefit. He then tries to steer the conversation away in hopes that it will make Tyr less uncomfortable.]

[If Gremio was worried about bringing it up for Aska and Tyr to hear, it's nothing compared to his panic as Ted responds. He wasn't supposed to mention anything about the future to Ted--that was what Tyr had asked of him.

And failing those expectations weigh more heavily on his mind than his own death. That, and causing Ted to worry.]

Forgive me, Ted. I...should not have mentioned that.

[Is it really? Will it ever really? To think Gremio also died some time in the future. Ted knows he himself will. He can feel it even if Gremio and Tyr hides it from him.]

I just can't believe you... it happened to you, too.

[It's fine as long as they're all together here in the City, where the dead can return. But once Tyr returns home...

Still, he can't help his surprise. Tyr never outright confirmed Ted's death to Gremio, even if he had an idea.]

Ted, you...You, too? Did the y-- [No, he won't ask it Tyr told him. He probably shouldn't pry, but...he's still concerned for them.]

[He's quiet for a moment before speaking up.] I know everything will change after Windy found out about the rune.

[Ted pauses for a bit.] I've been meaning to tell Tyr about it, but... seeing as he already has it, chances are I did give him the rune after what happened in the castle. After that, I just...

I just know things went downhill.
