Really now, a curse that causes illness...What a miserable thing.

[With both Luc and Katara sick yesterday, Gremio has decided to get up nice and early so nobody could stop him and make a nice breakfast to help them feel better. There is, of course, one problem with that:

He still doesn't remember how to cook.]

The young master did say this contraption was for cooking...Oh, what is the cooking time for noodles in a...toaster? I can't tell if they're done at all!

[The reason for that could be the smoke coming out of it. In addition, he has a can of soup heating on the stove--an unopened can, that is, just sitting on the burner.]

[ooc: A-apartmentmates (and Katara, if she's still there) feel free to action this disaster? :D]

R-remember? Young Master...I learned many housekeeping skills, but cooking has never been one of them.

Come on, Gremio. [ A bit desperate here. ] You always prepared feasts for us back home! --You had a speciality stew that was the best there was.

[The helpless and apologetic look he gives Tyr should be all the response needed. No matter how hard he tries, he simply can't remember any of that.] I...I'm sorry, Young Master... [Slowly, he shakes his head. But he believes Tyr is telling the truth.] I-I don't have any recollection.

[ He wonders if this is a side-effect of his coming here. People forget being here, so maybe he's forgetting parts of home. He doesn't want to make Gremio feel too bad about it, though. ] It's not your fault, Gremio... You can learn how to cook again now.

[The loss of memory doesn't bother him as much as it should--it's hard to mourn something he can't remember ever having in the first place. What does worry him is Tyr...as always. So he tries to be encouraging.] ...I will try my best. Any skill can be regained through practice, after all.

[stargathering]

[ He smiles more encouragingly. ] That's right. Do you remember how to make anything? Like tea?

[Gremio laughs just a little sheepishly.] I-I'm afraid not. Perhaps that would be a good starting point.

[stargathering]

I think it would be, too... [ A bit more energetically: ] You'll be able to make breakfast soon.

[axeofoath]

Oh, that would be exciting! And with you as my teacher, I have nothing to worry about.

[stargathering]

[ Tyr nods. ] You'll be great in no time. All right, let's see... [ ...Gremio will need to learn how Tyr likes his tea again. :< Tyr gets out the kettle for Gremio. ]

[Cooking lessons with the young master...Gremio is both unbelievably happy and determined to put Tyr's worries to rest. He'll learn to cook (again), so he'll be paying rapt attention.] Young Master, it's made with tea leaves, correct?

[stargathering]

That's right. [ Gremio isn't totally helpless! ] Do you want to get those?

Certainly! [Hooray, he got it right! Now, tea leaves...He bypasses the teabags completely and goes for bay leaves instead.]

[stargathering]

[ That seems like a reasonable mistake. But he shakes his head when he sees it. ] Ah, no. They're the little leaves in the bags. You don't need to swallow any tea leaves with them.

[Thankfully, Gremio's not discouraged, and gets the correct ones.] Oh, I see...That makes it quite a bit more pleasant. All right, what's next?

[stargathering]

[ This isn't bad at all. It's like when Tyr was little. Except backwards. ] Then you fill the kettle with water, like this. [ Look, a metal kettle! Tyr fills it partially with water from the tap. He shows it to Gremio. ] About this much.

[It is a strange reversal, but Gremio welcomes it all the same. To him, it's way more fascinating than it should be!] Fill the kettle...Yes, I can handle that! [And since tea is usually hot...] Should we cook the leaves next, Young Master?

[stargathering]

[ Which probably makes him more like a little kid than he would be otherwise. ] No, you need to boil the water and then put them in the cups. [ It told him on the box! ]

[Nothing delights like helping out the young master~! Box nothing, Tyr is just skilled at this.] Ah, is that how it goes? In that case, I suppose the water should heated, then...

[ Gremio is the best, even when the fact he knows to heat the water first makes Tyr happier than it should. ] That's right! [ Putting it on the burner. Hey, trying to cook soup in a can was good for one thing! Lalala, actions here. ] So we just leave it there until we can hear it boiling...

[Tyr makes such a wonderful teacher! Gremio beams, even though he's wondering when the tea leaves will factor in. But wait, he has to be able to hear the boiling water! ...What does boiling water sound like.] Oh, then we should be quiet, correct? So that we can hear the water...

Nah, boiling water is pretty loud as long as we don't wander off. [ But that's a really cute question! I actually don't have a kettle for my stove. :|a Do they really whistle, or are modern ones silent? ]

Is it really? I've never heard boiling water before--this is quite interesting!

[I think it depends on the kind, maybe! We have an electric one, so it just clicks loudly. :>]

...There's a first time for everything.

[ Haha, ours does, too. But I can always hear it boiling from the next room over! ...Or maybe our walls are thin... :|a ]
